The Fund
The aim of the Zoe Luffman Environmental Fund is to inspire young women to lead environmental change in Marlborough, by empowering, connecting and supporting young women across the region. The Fund supports any Marlborough-based environmentally focused project and is awarded to any wāhine under 21 years of age.
Winning projects can be led by an individual or as a group. Applications can be made by wāhine themselves, their teachers, mentors, friends or their whānau.
Applications can be made for up to $1000 per project.
There are two funding rounds per year that are open until 1 May and 1 October, annually.
Envirohub Marborough will aim to support all winning projects through mentorship, guidance and establishing connections to help projects to thrive!

This fund was inspired by one of Envirohub Marlborough’s original Conservation Kids, Zoe, who from an incredibly young age was motivated to do what she could to protect the beautiful natural environment we all call home. Learn more about the legacy she left behind.

These young entrepreneurs are collecting disused PVC pool toys and are turning them into waterproof bags! Reducing waste by diverting these old pool toys from landfill, their practices are exploring the avenues of reuse and recycle and giving new life to these toys. MGC EnviroWeek
Marlborough Girls College Environment Club
The awesome young women of the Marlborough Girls' College Environment Club run an Enviroweek each year to celebrate and raise awareness. These girls work toward changing practices within their school and educating their fellow students on ways to operate day to day while treading lightly on the environment we rely on so heavily for survival.
MGC Thrift Shop
Marlborough Girls College Environment Club
The Zoe Luffman Environmental Fund supported the revamp of MGC's Hidden Treasures Thrift Shop, encouraging students to choose to re-use before buying something new and keeping textiles out of the landfill. The thrift shop team started their efforts off by hosting a fashion show!
Wētā whare for Blumine Island
Marlborough Girls College Environment Club
The Marlborough Girls College team put together yet another exceptional project - constructing, delivering and placing Wētā Whare on Blumine Island, a predator-free sanctuary 22 km from Waitohi Picton.
QCC Kōrora Nesting Boxes

These amazing young women designed, built, and painted kororā nesting boxes before delivering them to Lochmara Lodge! The team were involved in every step — from idea formation and planning through to implementation. What incredible and inspiring wāhine we have in our community.
QCC Edible Garden

The team have transformed their school's edible garden by purchasing seeds, soil, establishing a worm farm, and installing raised garden covers. The QCC Kaitiaki group have also been growing swan plants shared with the wider community, and their worm farm is happily munching through leftovers from the school kitchen and staffroom.
